About the department:

   The department of general surgery is a full-fledged department with 4 units functioning on all 7 days a week and providing round the clock services. Because of its strategic location on the national highway 45 and it’s well connected to the nearby areas like Tindivanam, Gingee, Thiruvanamalai, Kallakurchi, Thirukovilur, Ulundurpet, Panruti, Cuddalore which are located in backward areas. It provides quality treatment to the needy and poor people and also offers emergency and accident and trauma services.
        Apart from the routine general surgical work the department also offers the following services :
Minimal invasive surgery [Laparoscopic surgery]
Endocrine surgery
Head and neck surgery
Upper gastro intestinal surgery 
Colorectal surgery
Breast surgery
Hepato- biliary surgery
Laser surgery
FAST Scan

    The department of General surgery is involved in teaching and imparting clinical training to MBBS students, by well qualified team of medical teachers comprising of :
